Of late, Bollywood has been flooded with patriotic films whether it is Uri: The Surgical Strike, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Romeo Akbar Walter, Kesari to name a few. The success of Manikarnika also led to a TV show based on the life of the queen. Soni Razdan's No Fathers in Kashmir also releases this Friday. There was a time in the 1980's and 1990's when Indian TV was flooded with shows around independence, nationalism and patriotism. One of them was Danny Denzongpa'sAjnabi. The actor wrote and acted in this Nepali film Saino. He later made it into a telefilm for Doordarshan named Ajnabi. The show spoke about a retired Army official who came to live in the valley. Terrorism, insurgency and human loss were discussed on the show. Ajnabi spoke about the bravery of the Armed Forces in the valley. The film Saino was made into Bengali as a film, Bandhu (1992).
