महिला 10 मीटर एयर पिस्टल क्वालिफिकेशन मुकाबले में भारत की मनु भाकर, यशश्विनी सिंह देसवाल मेडल की रेस से बाहर हो गई हैं. फाइनल में जाने के लिए टॉप 8 में आना था. लेकिन मनु भाकर 575/600 अंक के साथ 12वें और यशश्विनी 574/600 अंक के साथ 13वें स्थान पर आईं.​

भारत की बैडमिन्टन स्टार पीवी सिंधु ने टोक्यो ओलंपिक में जीत से आगाज किया है. उन्होंने इजरायल की के. पोलिकारपोवा को शिकस्त दे दी है. सिंधु ने ये मुकाबला 28 मिनट में ही अपने नाम किया. उन्होंने 21-7 और 21-10 से पोलिकारपोवा को हराया.​
