Kirrrrrrrrrk, the alarm started loudly," Nusaiba said as she turned over and slid the blanket down from her face, revealing her sleepy eyes and tousled hair. She groaned and reached out to hit the snooze button, trying to delay the inevitable start to her day.As she stood in front of the mirror, the warm water from the tap splashed on her face, slowly waking her up. She lazily brushed her teeth, the minty freshness slowly spreading through her mouth. The sound of the bristles against her teeth echoed in the quiet bathroom as she tried to shake off the last remnants of sleep. Despite her initial reluctance to start the day, the routine of brushing her teeth helped to invigorate her and prepare her for the day ahead.
As she made her way back into the bedroom. The steam from the hot shower still lingered in the air, causing her skin to glisten in the soft light. With a content sigh, she settled onto the bed, feeling refreshed and ready to start her day. The towel slipped slightly, revealing a glimpse of her smooth, sun-kissed skin as she reached for her clothes, a smile playing on her lips. She was a vision of beauty and confidence, ready to take on whatever the day had in store for her. Suddenly Ravi came in to her mind.
Nusaiba couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement at the thought of Ravi seeing her like this. She wondered if he would notice the extra pep in her step or the way her skin seemed to radiate a healthy glow. The idea of his reaction made her heart race just a little bit faster, and she couldn't wait to see him again. But for now, she was content to bask in the afterglow of her relaxing bath and savor the moment of self-care and rejuvenation.
As she descended the staircase, the soft hum of a familiar engine reached her ears, causing her heart to skip a beat. Peering out the window, she saw Ravi's bike parked in front of her house, a symbol of his enduring love and devotion. A smile tugged at her lips as she hurried to the door, eager to be enveloped in his arms and lose herself in the warmth of his embrace.
She quickly jumped on the back of his bike and they sped through the streets, weaving in and out of traffic until they reached their office building in record time.

Bangalore.
In Patel Nagar, he was walking in the dark street. He wore a hoodie and a monkey cap to cover his face. He knew every crack in the pavement, every twist and turn of the road. The darkness held no fear for him, only a sense of familiarity and comfort. His steps were deliberate and purposeful, his senses heightened as he made his way through the silent streets. The world was asleep, but he was wide awake, his mind sharp and alert. He had a mission to accomplish, and nothing would stand in his way.
He passed half of the street and stopped near an old house that looked like no one was living there. He entered through the gap between the compound wall, carefully erasing his footprints in the mud as he reached the concrete pavement. Walking towards the back of the house, he climbed over the compound wall and slowly made his way to the neem tree behind the old house. The tree spread its branches towards the house from the next street. Climbing the tree, he reached the first floor of the back side of the house. Descending into the shade, he moved stealthily towards the open window.
He peeked inside the window and saw her sleeping on the bed.

He watched as she breathed slowly and deeply, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. The room was quiet, the only sound being the soft hum of insects. As he continued to observe, he felt a sense of calm wash over him. He took a body spray like canister from his backpack and sprayed it inside the room. The smell disturbed her sleep, causing her to move slightly from her sleeping position and wake up. However, she couldn't feel herself and when she looked at him, she tried to yell but her voice didn't come out.
She fell back on the bed again and slipped into an unconscious state. He grabbed his backpack, took out the tools, and began to unfasten the window grills. It was 2 am. He removed the grills from the window and entered the bedroom. He looked at her for a few seconds, took a knife from his bag, and climbed on the bed. He raised his hands with a knife and harshly stabbed it into her chest. The knife went deep inside her breast, he stabbed her countless times and watched her last movements. She became motionless. He got down from the bed, told the body of the girl "Next is your sister," and went to the washbasin to wash his hands and clean the knife. He came out through the window and refixed the grills.

4.00 am.
Ragavan groaned as he rubbed his eyes and grumbled about having to wake up so early on his day off. He cursed the alarm clock for ruining his much-needed rest and wished he could just go back to sleep. But knowing he had a long day ahead, he searched beside his wife, Malini. She was not in bed.
Ragavan rubbed his eyes and tried to shake off the grogginess that seemed to cling to him. He couldn't remember the last time he had slept in, and the extra half an hour seemed to have thrown off his entire routine. As he stumbled out of bed and made his way to the bathroom, he couldn't shake the feeling of lethargy that weighed him down. "It's going to be a long day," he thought to himself, as he tried to muster up the energy to start his day. He called his wife but didn't get a reply from her. He wondered where she was - perhaps in the kitchen? He liked to ask her for a strong coffee to help remove his drowsiness.
He decided to freshen up by washing his face to shake off his drowsiness. He approached the sink, scooped up some water, and splashed it onto his face vigorously. This action made him feel more awake, and he noticed a faint light emanating from the bathroom through a crack in the door.
The soft glow of the light flooded the small bathroom, illuminating the tiled walls and reflecting off the mirror above the sink. The additional light brought a sense of warmth and comfort to the space, making it feel more inviting and welcoming. The gentle push of the door had transformed the dimly lit room into a bright and airy sanctuary.
The sight of Malini's lifeless body in the tub sent shivers down his spine. He could hardly believe what he was seeing. Despite the shock and horror, he managed to reach for the phone and dial emergency services. The police arrived swiftly and confirmed the grim discovery. Malini's lifeless form lay motionless in the bloodied water, a tragic and disturbing sight that would haunt him forever. The investigation into her death began, leaving him with more questions than answers.

"Hey beautiful," Ravi said with a smile, holding out the ice cream cone to her. "I thought you could use a sweet treat while you work."

Nusaiba's heart fluttered as she took the ice cream from him, feeling the warmth of his gaze on her. She couldn't help but blush as she looked into his eyes, feeling a rush of affection for this thoughtful gesture.

"Thank you, Ravi," she said softly, taking a bite of the ice cream and savoring the sweet taste on her tongue. "You always know how to make me feel special."

Ravi's smile widened as he leaned in closer, his hand reaching out to gently brush her cheek. "You are special to me, Nusaiba," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "I love you more than words can express."

Tears welled up in Nusaiba's eyes as she leaned in to kiss him, feeling the warmth of his lips against hers. In that moment, surrounded by the soft glow of the computer screen and the sweet taste of ice cream on her lips, Nusaiba knew that she was exactly where she belonged - in Ravi's arms, with a love that was as sweet and comforting as the ice cream in her hand.

As they sat on the couch, she took a spoonful of ice cream and offered it to him, her eyes fixed on the screen. He took a bite and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. The news of the twin murders in Bangalore filled the room with a sense of unease, casting a shadow over their peaceful morning. They watched in silence, both feeling a chill run down their spines as the details of the gruesome crime unfolded before them. The ice cream suddenly tasted bitter in their mouths as they realized that even in the midst of their own small moment of happiness, darkness and tragedy loomed just beyond the screen.

Major Vikram had yet to arrive. They both watched the news and heard Ravi's phone ringing. He picked up the phone, saw the number was new, and accepted the call.

"Hello, Ravi, I am a psycho, speaking. As I said before, I am the one who murdered two girls yesterday in Bangalore."

The phone went dead. Ravi tried to call the number again but received a message saying it was not reachable.
