Thanks for much for your review. I wrote this story 6 years ago, but the characters are so close to my reality that I managed to maintain consistency in my recent stories.
Pankhudi is a sweetheart does not desire revenge. She is compassionate towards Armaan and she healed him with her love. And he loved her just as much. Armaan will never be able to find another girl who knows the bitter truth about him and still doesn't hate him. She is a pure soul who knows only how to love, just like Armaan described her in a game of chess when Meera dominates him. His love for her is so deep that he was willing to suffer anything to make sure she is safe.
Also one more thing if you noticed, Pankhudi and Naina are very similar characters. Armaan always has some kind of an soft corner for sweet and innocent girls like them that is why he tries to stop Neil. Neil doesn't listen and Naina dies. Naina's love for Neil was so deep that she made sure no one finds her body after death so that there can be no evidence against Neil and his friends. She just wanted him to be happy, and both Armaan and Neil acknowledge this. Several years later when Armaan meets Pankhudi and she begs Armaan in a similar way as Naina begged Neil, he melts almost instantly.
As far as what Pankhudi got out of this, well, Armaan was a rich and powerful man who married her after the events in A Game of Chess and now she has a settled secure life like she would have never been able to afford on her own. Armaan's punishment, well, I think the man has been through enough in his life. He is smart and gets away with a lot of things. But he has surrendered completely to Pankhudi and she may hurt him if she wishes and he would let her. But she doesnt want to hurt him, she believes that this world needs love, there is enough of pain already.
Like I said in my reply to your review on A Game of Chess, I plan to write a short story of upto 4000 words on the aftermath of the Armaan Pankhudi relationship. Sometimes I get second thoughts about it coz, although it would be a soulful piece written from my heart, I feel it would sound a bit melodramatic with no thrill like the rest of the story and I am not sure how many readers would want to read it.
