Three-day Test match –an innovation likely to be patented by BCCI
Test matches were finding a losing battle with T20s, and stepped in BCCI.
All earlier efforts have failed, pink ball, day-night matches, even WTC. And of course there is BCCI which came with IPL and rest is history.
And BCCI took the initiative. Solution was there for all the see, desh ki mitti and sons of soil were asked to do some soul searching and came the answer, Sun and Soil and conserve the water. One after another three test matches got completed in three days. Actually, Pujara (that is why he does not feature in IPL) lacked the team vision and used super glue and but for the timely intervention by astute captain would have kept on playing. Captain wanted test to be over in two days, but alas. However, a message and after a few balls team was back in dugout.
Look at the savings. Even if we assume 50 K crowd, saving of two days will mean 1 lakh man days available for productive work. And three days will mean match can be adjusted to weekends with one-day work from home, so more eye balls on TV, more add revenue, more Sleep 11 type completions.
BCCI is grounded in the reality and run by persons who are soaked in Industrial Engineering, know a thing or two about asset productivity. More than that as this type of super tests will rely on Desh ki mitti, everybody will be curious about our curators and demand for technology transfer will grow. And with that we will be able to sell our unique mixture of red-black soil which made Indore test so interesting and clourful. Border Gavaskar series was a test for Test mach.
Some ignoramus blame pitches favors spinners. But they don’t see sea of compassion in BCCI. Our guests had some serious problems with their pacers. Hazelwood was injured. Cummins has an ailing mother. So it was not appropriate to take advantage of this situation and make pace friendly wickets. We are the hosts and we must be considerate, so specially ordered wickets were made. Cummins could go home and did not need to come. The whole world is a family.
And unknown to many lesser mortals who were only wondering about runs and wickets, it will make Quad stronger. We were already linked by Carmichael mine but 3 day tests will cement India –Australia ties further.

Cricbuzz Pitch report:
The pitch looks different to the one used against England.
It looks well rolled, there is an even covering of grass and there are a few dry patches on the surface.
Looks slightly damp as it's early in the morning.
The spinners have loved to operate in these conditions.
The wicket is going to break up as the game progresses.
Plenty of wickets in it for the spinners, but it will play better than the previous pitches used in the series.

so match is likely to progress up to weekend, at least 4 days, it seems. Let us keep our fingers crossed.
