The Last page covers the essence of this story, my world view, when the story was conceived, and it becomes more relevant even today, when some of my readers hurt by or i should not say, goaded by homophobia, (even when Art.377 is no longer in the statue books) gets totally obsessed by one scene and try to berate, belittle and compress the entire story into one isolated casual incidence ( which I had to excise, because of the rules of the forum, but deftly kept the references so that the flow does not break). The entire essence and rationale of story i repeated in the closing post and added ' make poverty history' for one simple reason that Bono (U-2) was (and remains) my favorite band and this movement was buzzword. I gave it a feminist twist, with the concerns of environment.
However, in Hindi version i refrained from these monologues for two reasons. First, may be to respect feeling of my readers, who wanted or at least i understood, a softer feminist approach and secondly in the Hindi version there came a twist in the tale ( or tail of tale), but it required that in place of me he should have relations with the MNC's Headquarters. I also felt that it looks nice as the closing words, but when the story is going to move ahead with more focus on erotic fantasies, i should cut it down, so with a heavy heart i did.
one more thing, i am always against the objectification or commodification of female, even at the cost of sacrificing a few views, a few likes or comments, but I feel i must portray their sensuality, (which is more open and expressive in rural background) and led me to abjure some very good stories in this forum, written very well but where I feel writer has crossed a line. I know porn by its very nature does it, does not indulge in subtle shades but even while writing, i do try,... so these posts also convey my feeling, however, contradictory or fallacious or it may seem to some or they may dub as hypocrite,..
But again i must thank my friends who still remembered it after a yawning gap of so many years, and i took a plunge and sharing those posts,
There are friends who would like me to translate it and post it in Hindi, which i will refrain from doing again for two reasons. I feel it is hard to translate at least for me, without sacrificing its cadence, nuances and shades. It is my limit. Secondly, it's more a journey into past, story of the story,... which has survived closure of fora, change in attitude and a lot of censorious posts.
I now normally post in Hindi, studded with the choicest ' those' words and a lot of folksy background, folk songs and rituals. But when it came to a story with urabn ro semi -urabn background, I prefer to stick to it However, in Hindi version, my love for village background, and Holi crept back through a very long flash back of Jethani in the village and Holi of course.
Very soon Hindi story will resume its course, Guddi will reach her brother's house, join the coaching, Manju, Geeta, Ms Moitra and her daughters, Ms. Khanna will come back in the story to reclaim their places but at this junction, please do indulge me, dabble in the background of this story and do share your views about JKG, in its original form.
